Katrina Debut Single: Paper Mace

The Long Island rock group Katrina has burst onto the music scene as they released their electrifying debut single, “Paper Mace.” It starts with a raw intensity that gets you hooked and features a sound that includes nostalgic yet modern rock.

The band came to be when two best friends, Max Mili and Pinky Poodles met at Nassau Community College and quickly realized the passion for music they share. Eventually, the two formed the band Katrina after making music and continuously being asked if they were in a band together.

Paper Mache” marks an important milestone as the first released song as a band. It was recorded with Steve Guerrera of Lunch Box Productions in Sayville, New York.

When it comes to the meaning behind “Paper Mache,” Max Mili prefers to keep things open-ended. He believes that songs should serve as mirrors for the listener rather than strict narratives from the artist’s perspective. He chose a lantern fly for the cover art because he feels they are beautiful and natural. He wants the audience to find their own meaning to the art.

“A lot of artists are quick to explain what their songs mean,” Max shares, “but I think it’s more important for listeners to find themselves in the lyrics. Everyone connects to music differently, and I never want to take that away from someone.”

In terms of the future of Katrina, they don’t plan on slowing down. They are releasing more music as well as recording their debut album at Vice and Virtue studios with Jack Gray soon!

They plan on releasing a series of demos from their collective vault. Before they were known as Katrina, they were just friends making music without a title and they are releasing those demo songs December 10th.

  1. Get Out Of LA
  2. Cannibal Art
  3. Brush Off The Block
  4. Broken Little Pieces (Will be released early on November 7th)

They will be releasing 1 song a month between January and March and then their album in the summer.

Next show: December 12th at Alleycats DIY, in Torrington CT.
