Long Island pop punk band Whippits, has released their debut single SUCKERPUNCH and they are definitely an emerging band to look out for within the Long Island music scene. Full of energy and passion, this song emphasizes the band’s sound and what they are all about, feeling like a breath of fresh air for local music, bringing back a nostalgia of the early 2000’s.

Whippits features Kierin, Neil, Joos, Chris, and Dylan. They are five friends who were brought up on the energy of rock music, house parties, and Jackass, who like making music and doing dumb sh*t for a laugh.

“We like our shows to be a big party, and our music to be the soundtrack to a good time, even when life might seem to have other plans.”

The meaning behind SUCKERPUNCH is something that anyone can relate to… It’s is about getting hit with something unexpected and rolling with the punches as well as dealing with the surprise difficulties or betrayals that life can throw your way and fighting back strong. They are thrilled to have their first song out there into the world and have plans of more coming soon.

The song features emotional lyrics alongside fast pace and high energy riffs. The catchy hooks alongside the signature pop punk instrumentals makes them sound just like a classic Warped Tour band such as Simple Plan or Sum 41.

“We’ve spent a lot of time practicing, playing, and finding our sound as a band, and when it came time to put our efforts towards creating music of our own, we knew it was going to reflect our style and the emotion put into it in the right way.”

They hope that listeners find their first release and discover something new for themselves that they can relate to and can get behind. Although they are new faces in the scene, and they obviously want people to know what themselves and their music is all about, it’s important to them to feel like they’re a part of something bigger.

They recently wrapped up a ton of local shows at venues such as The Nutty Irishman in Farmingdale and already are heading straight back to the studio to keep new music coming.
