The Long Island community came together for a nostalgic day of a classic summer block party. Held at 89 North in Patchogue, the venue was full of beach balls, beer pong and live music.
I thought the venue was perfect for the event. Inside there was the stage, LED dancing robot, photo ops, alongside tons of tables from local vendors and artists’ live painting. There was an indoor food truck that I loved and the prices were very reasonable.
There also was an outdoor patio that was perfect with the nice weather. There were more vendors as well as drinking games and activities outside.
What is ListenUp?
ListenUp! Is a company that highlights local musicians with a goal of bringing community together through art. This platform was launched by local musicians Shay Motion from Sound Creation Station and Alexander Terezakis from Voodoo Van Jam. They have a podcast featuring local musicians, artists and businesses featuring in studio music videos with multi camera productions. They put together seasonal festivals and the next one is their Halloween Fright Fest on October 11th, which I am so excited for.
Who Performed?
There was a large lineup of Long Island bands for the entire day with MC hosts Rita Poe and Catherine Poe. The bands included Iriespect, Mr. Rooster, Purely Green, Ramener, Sound Creation Station, Victoria Said, Voodoo Van Jam, Atlantic Send and Moxie Poe. They each offer their own unique sound and stage presence.
